Never a dull moment

So apparently Yamanda has a problem with people submitting blog entries with less than 300 words. I had no idea about this until reading Lauren's reference in her last post (Shane is so cute!) and then speaking to Lauren who informed me that Yamanda said she gave me a hard time about it. The funny thing is, I recollect no scolding from Yamanda. I've decided that her giving me a hard time about it is probably a lot like that time in college when she insisted that there was a movie theater on campus only to later conclude it was a dream. I love you Yamanda!

I thought I would get a post in today before my LSAT class starts and takes over my life for the next 4 weeks. The class meets 3 times a week and is going to be exhausting. But if I bomb the LSAT we at least know it's because I'm stupid and not because I wasn't prepared. I've decided that when the LSAT is done (Dec 1st!) I am going to try to learn Spanish. I mean to be able to actually speak it. It's a little silly to answer someone in English when he/she speaks to me in Spanish, and did I really want all that free time after work?

Otherwise, I'm keeping busy with before mentioned job and volunteering at an elementary school in Sunnyvale. I am tutoring some first graders who need extra help outside of school time. They are very cute. And they better be considering how early I get up to be able to tutor them before work and before their school day starts.

Can ya'll believe the holidays are right around the corner? Turkey anyone?

Shane!

Okay, so I know Yamanda's policy about writing a minimum of 300 words per blog, but seriously this picture is worth much more than 300 words!

peaceful resistance

the days since my last post have been solid, sometimes even unbelievably so. i've had stressful days at work and in general, but if nothing else i'm getting pretty good at saying to intimidating people, no, you will not fuck me over.

on a somewhat related note, i have posted a few pictures to illustrate just how delusional our downstairs neighbors are and just how childish college-educated people can be. let this be a testament to the all-too-prevalent incidence of adult temper tantrums. they're sweeping the nation.

not only do they beat on the ceiling every time nora and i so much as think about walking on our floor, but they are cRAAAzY. actually, i only suspect one of them but still... "crazy by association" is a diagnosable illness. in what kind alternate universe do you learn that it's an option to make up arbitrary rules like "you can't park next to my window"? and then go so far as to PRINT computer-generated signs, attach them to garbage cans, and roll the evidence of your dysfunction into my parking space in an attempt to spread your psychosis?

i have met two weirder people in my life: a railing homeless guy in front of the Walgreens on 4th and King, and this girl in Germany who used to eat the dead skin off the bottom of her feet. frankly, they should all get together and have dang-we-crazy meeting.

A sequel to Teddy Ripskin?!?!!

Haha, no, no, no...that would be a cruel joke to play on me, and let's not mention the world, because I am convinced that somehow this film is managing to prevent peace in the Middle East and encourage Global Warming. I haven't quite figured out how yet, but I'm sure there's a connection there somewhere. I've actually haven't heard from the director at all concerning the project, and I'm not about to call him to ask "What's up?" I'm smarter than that. I will just count my blessings and move forward.

Moving forward actually involves some more money coming my way. My internship at Maultsby Model & Talent has led me to another part time job. Our current acting coach wants to step down to spend more time with her family, so Patty (my boss) asked me if I wanted the job. Absolutely! My title is Acting/Modeling Coach, but it isn't really what it sounds like. Right now, I am not worrying about teaching the skills of acting/modeling. I will actually teach a class twice a month instructing beginners in the industry how to construct a headshot/resume, how to go into an audition (what to wear), what they should have an agent, and basically how to get started. I will teach my first class on Oct. 18th, and I'm excited and extremely nervous. I'll let you know how it goes. The best part is that I will get paid!

Other happenings in my life? Well, my friend, Courtney, and I went to see Dashboard Confessional in Raleigh, and it was absolutely amazing! Dashboard is on my top 5 musicians list and it was amazing to see Chris Carrabba live. Here's a little excerpt from his blog about his NC show:
"The last time we played North Carolina was not great. The rain was torrential and apparently in the real church going town we were in, Wednesday was bible study night for everyone. So the show was small and sedate. I was wondering---actually I was sure---that this NC show was going to be more of the same. The room we played was meant for symphony and orchestra. Big cushy seats and what not. I was certain this would lead to a casual show experience. Not the case. This crowd went nuts and stayed nuts from lights up to lights down. I was floored. If you were there I thank you. If you were not there then I can't even describe what you missed. It was jaw dropping. We talk about the energy of this audience now as almost a standard bearer. Well done."
Yep, Court and I were representing for sure!

Last week I also went to Wilmington's Riverfest. Wilmington has more festivals than probably necessary, but Riverfest was actually pretty fun. It's held downtown right along the riverwalk. There's tons of unhealthy festival food and booths showing off everything from photography to bags to bathroom renovations. It was nice down-home fun with people dressed as pirates walking around entertaining the kids (the NC coast is pretty proud of their pirate history). I was even pleasantly surprised that NC's liberal side showed that it does indeed exist. There was a booth for Pro-Choice (No Pro-Life booths to be found) and we saw a guy with a t-shirt with Bush and Cheney on it that read, "Meet the F*ckers!" Needless to say, I was impressed.

I think that pretty much concludes the update on my life. The Sharper Image is trying its best to show profit. Yamanda should have last month's catalog and the Teddy Ripskin script, so ask her to share. I go in today from 1 - 9:15, and then Britt and I are going to check out the new Elizabeth movie. Jealous Julia?

Alright, well, I hope you all are doing well. I love you and miss you! Maybe I can ask for a ticket out to CA at Christmas time or something.

I have issues...

I seriously just checked the Time Schedule to see what English classes were offered this quarter. There are a few that I really want to go to. I need to accept that I am not a student. And I also thought that a class called Opera as Cultural History said Oprah as Cultral History. Now that would be a fun class.
