A Moment of Nostalgia
Okay, so I've been meaning to write this post for a while now, and seeing as how it has been almost a full year since I have left the Bay Area and all of you lovely people, I think the timing for this blog is perfect. The following list is a collection of all of the things I miss about Stanford and its surroundings. Of course, I miss all of you the most. That goes without saying, so without further ado...
(in no particular order)
- Hobee's Blueberry Coffee Cake
- Day Trips to Half Moon Bay
- Ski Trips
- Going into the City
- I just watched a special about the year 1968 and am currently reading Ken Kesey's Demon Box...San Francisco and the Bay Area was where it was at! Seriously! I mean I knew the area was pretty historically significant, but it's still amazing to think about.
- Watching The Office with all of you--it comes back APRIL 10th!
- Free Film Screenings
- Intellectual Stimulation
- Without college it's pretty difficult to come by. I'm trying my best to exercise the college brain cells I worked so hard for 4 years. I've been reading a lot: Into the Wild, East of Eden, Franny and Zooey, Rabbit, Run!, A Tale of Two Cities, and now Demon Box. I've also been watching a lot of movies/tv trying to use my pretty useless degree: There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, The Darjeeling Limited, Across the Universe, Arrested Development (just a few of my faves at the moment).
- Stacks (the restaurant, not the library!)
- Cafe Borrone's
- specifically their rum cake that's oh so delicious!!
- Special Dinners
- Slosh Ball
- The Stanford Bookstore
- There's really no other bookstore like it. It was the perfect place to browse at books, study, and take study break by browsing down at people from the 2nd floor. (I know this makes me seems a little creepy, and I'm okay with that)
- Art Fairs in White Plaza
- Full of stuff I couldn't afford, but always fun to look around.
- The Stanford Theatre
- A great source for classic cinema.
- EBF Happy Hour
- Wine Nights
- The crepe place in San Francisco
- The chicken crepes at the CoHo (this I may never taste again..boo)
- Classico Gelato
- Being able to go over to Dina, Nora, and Yamanda's room to just chill
- Fountain Hopping
- Going to Stanford sports events
- I really should have gone to more. Now I try to catch Stanford sports on tv on the rare occasions they show their games on the East Coast.
- Playing pool
- Caterpillars
- Community Bathrooms
- ALWAYS having work for classes to do.
- Not having a car
